The Academy

Academy Groups

It is our aim to take the most promising cricketers in the local area and give them every opportunity to reach their full potential. For the club and also the local community, the Cricket Academy has become a unique coaching programme, with all the participants receiving the benefits of first class expertise, equipment and facilities.

The first intake of students was selected at the end of the 2004 cricket season and started in January 2005 with groups at U13 and U16 and this very quickly moved up an age groups to today where we will have five different groups performing in the week. Due to its popularity, a Pre Academy was also set up soon afterwards which started taking children as young as 5 or 6 years up to eleven years and there are many examples of the first intake carrying on into the full Academy squads and beyond today.

For 2012, the squads have been streamlined to make sure the quality is still high and the standard more competitive as well as being able to have more time with the coaches. Areas covered by the students will include items such as technical and tactical work, physical and mental preparation as well as lifestyle advice.

We are delighted that many of our students have gone on to get recognition at district and county level and we are always striving to get as many players as possible on to higher honours.
